Sherwood Chalet at Forest Lodge Wedding | Veronica + Adam

Welcome to the Sneak Peek Blog of Veronica & Adam’s Wedding at The Sherwood Chalet at Forest Lodge.

Veronica says, “I found out about Daniel Nydick Photography on a NJ Brides group on Facebook. I showed Adam your Instagram and we both loved your work. We both prioritized photography. We wanted the BEST and that’s definitely what we got.”

I had the pleasure of meeting them both last July. I spent the evening photographing their Seaside, NJ engagement session.

Enjoy the photos (click on any thumbnail to see the full-size image), and stay for the Love Story of Veronica & Adam after the break.

1. How and where did you meet?
We met on Tinder! We matched in December 2015... talked on and off and had our first date on February 23, 2016.

2. How has your relationship grown over the years?
Our relationship moved pretty quickly in the first year. We started dating in February 2016 and were pretty inseparable from the start We spent whatever free time we had together. It was difficult at first since I was in Toms River and he was in Marlton. In September he closed on a home in Ocean County and by October I was moving in.
Everything we have been through together has only brought us closer. With him deploying we had to learn to trust and depend on one another in a different way to make that time apart work for us.

3. What’s kept you together?
From the start, we both knew what we wanted in a relationship and were very straight forward with each other. It was important for each of us to be accepted as we were... to not change each other but to love each other...flaws and all.
There is so much LOVE, compassion, and understanding in our relationship. We’ve been through some rough times...deployments, times of grief, the pandemic uprooting all our plans. We are best friends, we’re a team. We continuously work to support each other- to lift each other up.

4. What are some fun things you do together as a couple and with friends? Please be specific when naming restaurants, games, favorites hangouts, etc.?

Most of our nights are spent together at home with our 3 dogs- Cheech, Luna, and Zoe; playing and enjoying the chaos.
We love being outdoors. Beaches, parks, hiking trails are where we like to take Cheech to burn off all that energy!
For date night dinners we enjoy Water Street, MJs, visiting LBI or Seaside. I love dinner and drinks with a view... so any place by the water.
We also like to try new things, so I like to look for festivals/events going on in the area. We ealso enjoy taking day trips into NY/PA.
We recently bought the Adventure Challenge book for couples, so we’ve been enjoying doing that.

5. Where will you honeymoon?
We had originally planned to be in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo and of course, COVID crushed those plans. We have nothing planned yet. Within the next year, we will plan something. I want to be comfortable traveling wherever we go. Right now we are enjoying the week after the wedding together by spending each day doing something new.

6. Family plans? Kids? Pets?
For now.. we just want a house big enough to fit a king-size bed for us and the pups, lol. There’s no rush to start a family just yet.

7. What’s new since being married? Or, what’s solidified/bonded/grown in your relationship since?
Adam likes to joke and say we’ve been married since I moved in. But after 4 days since our wedding, I still feel like we are living on cloud 9. That entire honeymoon period during dating all over again but 100000% better because you know you’re with the person you’ll spend the rest of your life with.

8. Why did you choose your venue, what do you love about it?

In my opinion, we stumbled upon a hidden gem in The Sherwood Chalet. We live in Ocean County so our venue was far for us. We weren’t impressed with the places local to us. I wanted something different. I loved being able to have our ceremony and reception in one location. Originally we were scheduled to be indoors, but the outdoor wedding was beyond incredible! I feel like our outdoor reception was beautiful and romantic.

9. What were your favorite memories of your wedding day?

First look. Finally seeing him and all my nerves just fading away. Saying “I do”. Being with family and friends. Dancing. It was such an amazing day filled with so much love and happiness. With everything going on in the world, postponing the wedding from April to September and all the stress... to have this day finally come is truly the best feeling ever. We both say we smiled the entire day because it was just the greatest feeling.

10. What advice would you give new couples about planning their wedding day (especially during COVID)?

Anything and everything counts. How to find the right vendors, how to manage headcount, how to stay sane and not get overwhelmed in the planning, etc.?

DONT STRESS! Our wedding day was the best day of our lives. So many things can happen - especially with COVID. The day is about you and your partner. Nothing and no one else matters. Use each other for support. Cry about it. Vent about it. But don’t fight. Make decisions together. Take your time.

Talk to your friends who are married. Think about weddings you’ve attended in the past. Use social media to do a little inspiration searching. I used the NJ Bride Private Group and found that so helpful!

Choose vendors you are comfortable with and speak up when you’re not!
